Responsibilities

Provides supervision to children during non-instructional periods, under direction of a site administrator and/or Elementary Yard Duty Leader
Supervises students and enforces school procedures in assigned areas of the playground, outdoor eating areas, cafeteria, indoor assembly areas, halls, restrooms, and at other locations during assigned hours
Enforces school rules and safety regulations, security, discipline and activity rules where assigned
Works closely with staff in eliminating behavior problems occurring during assigned work hours in the activities in which students are engaged, such as at recess, lunch, before, and after school
Escorts students to various parts of the campus, and assists ill students to the health office
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
None experience required
Knowledge of positive behavior modification strategies and techniques
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships
Ability to reinforce positive behaviors, motivate, and address inappropriate behaviors with students
Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instruction
Ability to deal firmly, tactfully, and effectively with students
Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy objects, normally not exceeding twenty (20) pounds
Prior to employment, a candidate must submit proof of freedom from tuberculosis
Pre-employment physical exam (district-paid) and fingerprint clearance with the Department of Justice

Preferred

Written and oral proficiency in a second language
