Responsibilities

Utilize strategic self-disclosure with individuals to build connections and normalize mental health challenges
Foster a comfortable, warm, and welcoming atmosphere for all clients in care (or who would benefit from engaging in care) with a person-centered lens, building quick rapport while demonstrating empathy and respect
Introduce Outpatient’s integrated team-based care model to clients upon care entry, discuss benefits of this model, and address client questions and concerns
Ensure all interactions are input into the EHR and EHR schedule where appropriate documentation is completed to illustrate services provided and client progress
Participate in community events to support client engagement strategies and foster community partnerships

Qualification

Peer Support Specialist CertificationPersonal Experience with Mental HealthCrisis De-escalation TrainingCPR TrainingEmpathyCommunication SkillsTeam Collaboration

Required

Have personal experience with mental health challenges
Be Certified and Registered as a Peer Support Specialist (PSS) or Peer Wellness Specialist (PWS) through the Oregon Health Authority (OHA)
Provide a valid driver's license from their state of residence or obtain and submit one within 30 days of hire
Maintain a safe driving record
Have the ability to pass a DHS criminal background check
Ability to frequently talk, listen, use hands and fingers, reach, stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, climb stairs, as well as lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds
Successfully complete crisis de-escalation and CPR trainings, which require performing various physical, hands-on maneuvers and techniques and may require an individual to lift and transfer clients
Be 18 or older at the time of hire
