Vice President Accounting and Corporate Controller

The Vice President Accounting and Corporate Controller will oversee various accounting functions, establish internal controls, and ensure accurate financial reporting while collaborating with financial partners and managing the general accounting staff.

Responsibilities
Direct multiple accounting functions, including payroll and accounts payable, and establish effective internal controls for all assigned functions
Supervise general accounting staff and manage general accounting operations including general ledger closing procedures, financial statement preparation and reporting, maintenance and proper reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, prepaid assets, patient receivables, inventory, fixed assets, account analysis, audit schedules and reports, Lawson general ledger review and resolution
Assist in the preparation and development of the corporation’s annual budget, which includes capital, staffing and non-staffing, and revenue projections
Partner with the Treasury department to develop accurate cash needs projections and strong cash processing and reporting mechanisms
Develop strong relationships with financial business partners and analysts to ensure accurate and effective interpretation of data and financial results
Communicate effectively with other areas in the organization to resolve issues and assist with financial analysis and interpretation
Work independently to resolve complex issues, requiring sound judgment and ensure all accounting frameworks are established to enable the organization to monitor and drive improved financial performance, accurately and timely
Qualification
Required
Relevant experience as a finance leader in a complex environment is required
Bachelor's Degree
An excellent understanding of current generally accepted accounting principles
Leadership skills including employee leadership and change management
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and systems/tools used for financial management
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build strong relationships and collaborate across the company
Exceptional attention to detail
Service-oriented strategic thinker with strong financial and business acumen coupled with excellent analytical skills and ability to solve complex problems independently
Ability to pivot quickly in a fast-paced environment
Project management skills
Preferred
Relevant accounting leadership experience in a hospital or health system is strongly preferred
CPA certification is a plus but not required
