Responsibilities

Conducting legal research
Preparing briefs, pleadings, memoranda, or other legal documents
Assisting with courtroom hearings and proceedings
Reviewing and summarizing evidence and exhibits
Supporting junior law clerks by monitoring caseloads and offering guidance on tasks and assignments

Required

be a current law student graduating in May 2026
be transferring from out of state and preparing for the swearing-in
be a recent graduate from an ABA-accredited law school awaiting SC Bar results
complete Rule 403 requirements upon transferring into a permanent Assistant Attorney General position
be sworn to SGJ secrecy protocols if involved in State Grand Jury matters
participate in the random drug testing program
proficient in computers, software, and technology, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and other related tools
may require travel and the transport of files
occasional overnight travel may be necessary, especially during trials or hearings across the State

Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Excellent writing and attention to detail
Effective communication and advocacy skills
Advanced legal research abilities
Professional demeanor when interacting with the public and officials
Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the work
