Responsibilities
Performs maintenance and repair of Police vehicles including unmarked detective vehicles, some hybrids, mobile command vehicles, urban assault vehicles and marked cruisers
Maintains and repairs other City vehicles for a variety of departmental functions
Diagnoses and repairs all systems, i.e. electrical, hydraulic, steering, braking, engine systems and transmissions, etc
Fabricates, installs and repairs of auxiliary equipment, i.e. compressors, plows, spreaders, generators, equipment trailers, etc
Performs related work as required
Qualification
Required
High school diploma (or GED equivalent) with training in automotive/heavy equipment/light equipment, gasoline or diesel engine repairs
At least two (2) years of related work experience performing automotive/heavy equipment/small engine mechanical repair and maintenance; and/or state certifications
Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
Preferred
ASE Certification Preferred
