Engineering Projects Coordinator

Responsibilities
Coordinates daily execution of non-surtax funded capital improvement projects; reviews detailed cost estimates and time schedules prepared by consultants and construction contractors; monitors progress for compliance with budget, schedule and project scope
Performs administrative duties as required; prepares written reports and maintains data, issues directives to consultants and contractors
Responds to inquiries and resolves complaints from contractors, consultants and the general public
Serves as liaison to contractors on civil and architectural plans and specifications on projects as assigned
Assists design team with preparation of construction front-end boilerplate documents for use during the procurement process
Ensures project completion within established time frames and budgets; meets with consulting engineers, contractors and construction personnel regarding work progress, quality and safety requirements
Monitors project management reports, work progress assessments, cost control systems, construction changes/claims and project closeout for all phases of construction projects
Documents issues that may impact project costs and schedules
Provides periodic updates and budget reports, forecasts, scopes of work, cost estimates and time schedules
Coordinates, reviews and forwards periodic payment requests from consultants and contractors
Coordinates budget transfers as necessary
Assists with the preparation of the Engineering department budget for presentation
Assists in preforming quality take-offs, cost analyses, review and processing of change orders, invoices and other related financial management documents
Utilizes AutoCAD to create design documents under the direction of the direct supervisor
Prepares graphic presentation maps, illustrations and related materials for programs, meetings and visual display; prepares drafts and modifies plans, maps and illustrations
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree in project management, Construction Management or a closely related field supplemented by four (4) years' experience in public works related projects, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
Experience with Microsoft Office
Experience with Adobe
Requires a valid driver license
Requires the ability to operate office equipment, to include computers, copy/fax machines and related peripherals
Must be able to exert 20 to 25 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
Requires periodic walking and standing, with occasional bending and stooping
Requires the ability to communicate effectively in English, including the ability to convey, record and exchange information; requires the ability to explain procedures and to give, receive and follow oral and written instructions
Must be able to read and interpret a variety of moderately complex technical data, policy and procedure manuals, codes, professional journals
Requires the ability to prepare forms and reports using prescribed formats, and adhering to all rules of grammar, spelling, diction and punctuation
Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical and/or professional languages used within the parameters of the job and with a broad array of individuals from various professional backgrounds
Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; to interpret a variety of technical instructions in written, mathematical or diagrammatic form; to learn and understand relatively complex principles and techniques; to make independent judgments in absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation
Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide; to determine weight; calculate decimals and percentages; compute discount, profit and loss, ratio and proportion
Requires the ability to deal with people beyond receiving instructions
Must be adaptable to performing under moderate levels of stress, imposed by frequent deadlines, peak workloads, or public contact
Requires the ability to exercise consistent tact and courtesy when in frequent contact with various professionals, county staff, and the general public
Preferred
Experience working in Computer Aided Design (CAD)
Experience with a municipal organization
