Safety, Reliability, and Risk Systems Engineer III

Blue Origin is working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems. The Safety, Reliability, and Risk Systems Engineer III will support the development and operations of the New Glenn launch vehicle, focusing on system safety, reliability, and risk management while collaborating with multi-discipline teams.

Responsibilities

Understanding of programmatic Risks and Mitigation Strategies
Evaluate and perform reviews of system safety analyses including FHAs, FMECAs/HAZOPs, FTAs, CCAs, and Human Error Assessments
Perform reliability analyses including component reliability predictions and modeling via Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs)
Evaluate safety products and requirements for compliance with our system safety processes and products against internal and external standards including Range Safety, NASA, FAA, MIL-STD-882, or ARP-4761
Implement and maintain system safety processes and identify continuous improvement opportunities
Work with systems engineering and subsystem cognizant engineers to identify and verify compliance with system safety requirements
Assist in generating metrics and report on program system safety status
Participate in actively maintaining a healthy system safety culture

Required

Minimum of a B.S. degree in aerospace/electrical/mechanical engineering or related field
5+ years engineering experience in the aerospace industry
Strong system safety/reliability/risk and mission assurance fundamentals
Experience interpreting and assessing compliance to regulatory requirements and guidance
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to identify problems, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs

Preferred

3+ years system safety, reliability, or risk-based engineering experience performing FHAs, PSSAs, FMEA/FMECAs, FTAs, & CCAs
Experience performing compliance assessments and tailoring of FAA and Range Safety launch system requirements
Experience with a variety of complex aerospace or launch vehicle systems
Process ownership and maintenance experience
