Public Health Analyst II - Limited Service
The Vermont Department of Health (VDH) is excited to hire a Public Health Analyst II on the Injury Epidemiology Team in the Research, Epidemiology and Evaluation (REE) Unit. This role involves supporting evaluation efforts for various health programs, analyzing data, and collaborating with community partners to enhance public health initiatives.

Responsibilities
Support VDH's CARA program and other injury topics such as the Comprehensive Suicide Prevention grant and the Maternal Mortality Review Panel
Support the program's evaluation efforts, provide analysis of program metrics, and assist with data interpretation
Create program evaluation data collection tools
Monitor naloxone distribution and administration data
Analyze data to determine program effectiveness
Develop data products
Provide analytic support regarding suicide morbidity in Vermont to support suicide prevention initiatives across the state
Share key findings through meetings, presentations, data briefs, and reports
Contact with community partners, program staff, and other key partners will be required
Work on multiple teams, including the Unit, other Divisions in VDH, collaborate on special topic workgroups, and perform related duties as required
Qualification
Required
Master's degree or higher in biostatistics, epidemiology, public health or a social sciences discipline, including 6 credits in statistics at the graduate level AND one (1) year or more of professional level work in research, statistics, informatics or program evaluation where the activities include gathering, analyzing and interpreting statistical data
OR
Bachelor's degree in statistics, a health-related or social sciences discipline, including 12 college credits in statistics, research or computer sciences, and 6 of these credits must be in statistics AND two (2) years or more of professional level work in research, statistics, informatics or program evaluation where the activities include gathering, analyzing and interpreting statistical data
OR
Associate's degree in public health, health, scientific or informatics field AND four (4) years or more of experience in research, statistics, informatics or program evaluation where the activities include gathering, analyzing and interpreting statistical data
Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position
In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates
Preferred
Program evaluation experience and skills, particularly in a public health context
Quantitative analysis skills including experience with statistical software (R, SAS, or SPSS, etc.) and complex sample analysis
Experience designing evaluation plans, data collection tools, survey questions, etc
Commitment to health equity
Effective data visualization skills
Ability to integrate into multidisciplinary teams effectively
Excellent communication skills; including competence in explaining statistical data
Flexibility and adaptation in working with different teams and managing many different projects at once
