Responsibilities

Design engineering solutions and the associated validation process to enable the realization of a design brief (for example, in terms of functionality, performance, aesthetics, and cost) that conform to organizational and/or regulatory standards
Analyze information and specify the methods and process steps, as well as the plant, machinery, and equipment, required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems to deliver the end product within specified cost and quality parameters
Manage technical troubleshooting projects and process operations, ensuring effective diagnosis of technical issues with equipment and experiments and the development of effective solutions
Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends, including yields and reliability metrics
Participating in Process Safety Management (PSM) activities such as MOC, PHA's and LOPA to support overall refinery goals around action item closure
Maintaining key process safety information including P&IDs, PFDs, Heat and Material Balances
Providing process and technical support for major turnarounds, maintenance projects, and unit shutdown / startups on shift schedule
Visibly demonstrating commitment to the workplace safety and health of employees and contractors

Required

Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)
Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodations, to comply with the following: Travel up to 5%
Work extended hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, and occasional on-call duties
Climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet
Work safely near large, hot, high-speed machines, around chemicals and hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat, and in harsh weather conditions
Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment
Maintain face daily for proper respirator/face mask seal. (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
Bachelor's Degree or higher in an engineering discipline
5 or more years of engineering experience
7 or more months of supervisory OR mentoring experience

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
Experience with process simulation software. (e.g. HYSYS, Pro II, AspenPlus, etc.)
5+ or more years of experience working as a Process Engineer at a refinery
