Responsibilities

Providing phone and visitor reception for a dental clinic
Registering, scheduling, and confirming patient appointments
Greeting patients and assisting with Medicaid/ sliding Fee Scale issues/inquiries
Querying callers to ascertain the nature of calls, referring them to the appropriate staff, or responding to callers' needs independently; maintaining the dental clinic calendars
Meeting time-sensitive deadlines and/or demands
Ensuring the Electronic Health Record (EHR) schedules match dental providers' schedules and staff leave scheduling system
Ensuring all patient medical history and intake forms are completed and scanned into the patient record on the same day as the patient appointment
Ensuring the correct data (appointment type, patient identifiers, income, family size, insurance and/or payer ID, rendering provider, first consultant, etc.) is inputted into the EHR system so that correct statistical reports can be gathered, and bills can be processed
Processing patient fee collections, fee reports, and bank deposits, ensuring they are completed in a timeline outlined by the program/HHS fiscal policies•
Ensuring patient compliance in attending appointments and filling out forms
Performing other job-related duties as assigned

Required

Two (2) years of progressively responsible office support experience
Graduation from high school or High School Certificate of completion recognized in the State of Maryland
An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be substituted

Preferred

Previous experience working in a dental or healthcare reception environment
Experience working in public health settings or community clinics
Familiarity with or experience with appointment scheduling software and record management systems in a healthcare setting
The ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently (e.g., scheduling, data entry, phone management)
Awareness of community health issues and barriers to access
Basic multilingual language skills
