Risk and Insurance Manager

Responsibilities
Evaluate new clients and specific job activities to ensure they align with our risk appetite. You will be approving job orders based on risk profiles
Review client safety procedures and history to determine the viability of a partnership
Work directly with carrier underwriting departments to ensure all US class codes (NCCI and state-specific) are properly assigned and endorsed
Manage the administrative workflow to ensure coverage is active before a placement begins, eliminating coverage gaps
Manage the full lifecycle of WC claims across all NCCI, independent, and Monopolistic states (OH, WA, WY, ND)
Partner with Third Party Administrators (TPAs) and carriers to provide wage statements and documentation required to drive claims toward resolution
Conduct regular file reviews to ensure reserve accuracy and push for the closure of legacy or high-exposure claims
Work directly with stakeholders (contractors, partners, and clients) to handle injuries and other insurance claims
Lead and complete all insurance audits for the US (NCCI/State funds) and Canada (WSIB/CNESST, etc.)
Execute precise payroll reporting to all states, provinces, and carriers on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
Maintain necessary clearance certificates for Canadian operations to ensure continuous compliance
Utilize a deep understanding of Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance to manage the broader portfolio, including GL, PL, and EPLI
Collaborate with brokers on annual renewals and oversee the issuance of Certificates of Insurance (COIs) to meet client contractual requirements
Work with Accounting to ensure all policy premiums are calculated accurately and remitted on time
Qualification
Required
Industry Rooted: You should have experience within the Staffing, PEO, EOR, or high-volume hourly work industries. You understand the unique risks associated with a contingent, hourly workforce
Claims Expertise: Proven background as a Claims Analyst or Adjuster
Risk Evaluation: Experience performing hands-on risk assessments of client job sites and work activities (Light Industrial, Healthcare, Clerical, etc.)
Strong US WC Knowledge: Expertise in US Workers' Compensation systems, including NCCI classifications and state-specific nuances
P&C Proficiency: Solid understanding of Property & Casualty insurance lines (General Liability, Professional Liability, and EPLI)
Hands-on Mentality: Comfort with handling payroll data, spreadsheets, and high-volume administrative tasks without errors
Communication: Ability to translate complex insurance and risk concepts to internal sales teams and external clients
Preferred
Cross-Border Exposure: Familiarity with Canadian provincial requirements is a significant plus
