Surgical Scheduling Specialist-Operating Room-Per Diem

The Surgical Scheduling Specialist will be responsible for accurately scheduling surgical procedures and coordinating with various departments to ensure patient needs are met. Responsibilities
The scheduler position includes the ability to brainstorm and attend meetings with members of the JMC software user groups and to work closely with the Director of Surgical Services to accommodate all departmental customers, both internal and external
Schedule GI Procedures
Schedule “Add on procedures” and communicates them to front OR desk as scheduled, coordinate anesthesia services
Answer department phone calls while on duty
Assembles charts and related materials in accordance with department procedure
Department ordering and inventory. Ordering supplies weekly
Assist with competency packets for new hires and annually
Help coordinate the delivery/retrieval of items to/from Lab, Pharmacy or Materials with volunteers. If Volunteers not readily available will also make out- of- department runs as needed
Run copies for monthly QI, payroll edit sheets, PDO forms etc
Organize any faxes coming over from the MD offices
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Graduate or Equivalent
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
Ability to brainstorm and attend meetings with members of the JMC software user groups
Ability to work closely with the Director of Surgical Services
Ability to schedule GI Procedures
Ability to schedule 'Add on procedures' and communicate them to front OR desk as scheduled
Ability to coordinate anesthesia services
Ability to answer department phone calls while on duty
Ability to assemble charts and related materials in accordance with department procedure
Ability to perform department ordering and inventory
