Fleet Equipment Technician I/II/III
City of College Station is seeking a Fleet Equipment Technician to assist in repairs and maintenance on heavy trucks, equipment, and vehicles. The role involves performing minor repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities
Perform minor repairs on gasoline and diesel engines
Perform minor repair work and adjustments on automobiles, medium and heavy duty trucks, and all types of heavy equipment
Maintain record of services performed and assist with writing shop repairs orders
Perform preventative maintenance and state inspections on automobiles, medium and heavy-duty trucks, and heavy equipment including all types of fluid level checks and lubrication checks
Perform other duties as assigned
Responsible for diagnosing malfunctioning of electrical and computer components of vehicles and equipment, and determining actions to be taken for repair on city vehicles and equipment to include, but not limited to A/C systems, alternators, starters, steering mechanisms, electrical cooling and emission control systems and other controls
Test, diagnose and repair malfunctions of vehicle and equipment computer, electrical, and mechanical components; perform oil changes and tune ups on gas and diesel engines; and perform complete brake service and repairs
May modify, fabricate, and install special equipment
Assist and work with other technicians in performing repairs
In the absence of the supervisor, may lead the work activities of others
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or G.E.D., one (1) year technical training in a field related to area of assignment, or one (1) year automotive/equipment repair experience; or, an equivalent combination of training and experience
State Inspector Certification must be obtained within six (6) months of hire date
Possess Class C Drivers license or State of Texas Class B CDL (CDL must be obtained within one (1) year of hire date)
Basic understanding of mechanical and automotive principles
Ability to work after hours and weekends
High School Diploma or G.E.D., two (2) years technical training in a field related to area of assignment, or two (2) years automotive/equipment repair experience; or, an equivalent combination of training and experience
Possess Class B CDL Driver's License and maintain
Possess two (2) ASE or EVT Certifications in the automotive or truck field
State Inspector Certification
High School Diploma or G.E.D., three (3) years technical training in a field related to area of assignment, or three (3) years automotive/equipment repair experience; or, an equivalent combination of training and experience
Possess Class A CDL Driver's License and maintain
Possess four (4) ASE or EVT Certifications in the automotive or truck field
State Inspector Certification
Preferred
Completion of automotive trade school
ASE or EVT Certification in the automotive or truck field
Two (2) years automotive/equipment repair experience
