Civil Technical Engineer
MID Construction Group is seeking an experienced Technical Civil Engineer to support plan review, technical coordination, and construction documentation for California-based projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing construction drawings, identifying design issues, and coordinating technical concerns between design teams and field operations to minimize site delays and rework.

Responsibilities
Perform detailed plan reviews, including architectural, structural, civil, and coordination with MEP as required, to identify conflicts, discrepancies, and constructability issues
Draft, track, and manage Requests for Information (RFIs) with clear, concise, and technically accurate language
Review and evaluate submittals for compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements
Identify design gaps early and coordinate technical resolutions prior to field execution to reduce delays and rework
Cross-check construction documents against existing site conditions and field constraints
Coordinate with Project Engineers, Superintendents, Design Consultants, and Subcontractors for technical clarifications
Support value engineering reviews and technical scope clarifications as needed
Maintain accurate documentation and logs related to RFIs, submittals, and technical reviews
Ensure compliance with California Building Codes and applicable local amendments
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in technical civil engineering, plan review, or construction engineering roles
Strong working knowledge of California Building Codes and U.S. construction standards
ICC Plan Examiner Certification (or equivalent) is required
Proven experience in reviewing construction drawings, RFIs, and submittals
Strong understanding of construction sequencing, constructability, and field coordination
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation
Ability to manage multiple technical issues simultaneously with strong attention to detail
Preferred
Master's Degree in Civil Engineering
Prior experience on U.S.-based projects, with California experience strongly preferred
ICC Master Code Professional (MCP) certification is a plus
