Early Career Geotechnical Engineer

The Early Career Geotechnical Engineer will support the Earth & Environment Team by performing engineering investigations, conducting laboratory and field tests, and assisting with construction projects.

Responsibilities

Perform engineering investigations and design support tasks under the direction of senior engineering professionals
Perform laboratory and field tests according to prescribed procedures, processes, and standards
Collect soil samples, prepare samples for testing, record data, and prepare summary reports
Observe and document routine construction operations and write routine field reports
Assist and observe contractor work on construction projects and interact with client, contractor or subcontractor representatives accordingly
Perform a variety of non-technical tasks designed to assist others in preparing for and/or conducting office, laboratory or field activities

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
0-1 years of relevant work experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with excellent analytical abilities, leadership ability, and a positive attitude
Ability to work both independently and within groups
Competence in the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is necessary
Familiarity with discipline-specific design software - AutoCAD, GINT, Slide, etc
FE/EIT (or ability to obtain EIT within 1 year) required
Valid driver's license

Preferred

Engineer in Training Certification
Some prior experience in field and laboratory testing, geotechnical drilling, or construction inspection
Knowledge of construction methods and practices
