Responsibilities
Oversee and maintain the existing AWS Environment while ensuring adherence to industry best practices
Oversee the Cloud Architecture to meet performance and security requirements
Troubleshoot and Support issues and work with AWS and internal teams to resolve issues
Oversee governance and security to meet compliance regulations
Evaluate and identify the best cloud solutions for the organization
Develop and modify scalable architecture to support applications and infrastructure-as-a-service (IAAS) and platform-as-a-service (PAAS) platforms
Ensure the security and compliance of cloud environments, including data protection and privacy
Monitor and analyze cloud infrastructure performance to identify and resolve issues proactively
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize cloud-based environments for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness
Design controls and processes that utilize available audit tools
Maintain up-to-date and extensive knowledge of cloud products and technology
Qualification
Required
AWS Professional-level certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional)
Working knowledge of common scripting/programming languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
Ability to mentor and train others
Provide knowledge transfer, training, and coaching to other team members
Help with the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, standards, and playbooks
Deep knowledge of key AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, CloudFormation, etc.)
Proficiency with infrastructure as code (CloudFormation, Terraform, AWS CDK) and CI/CD pipelines
Strong troubleshooting abilities across networking, storage, and compute layers in AWS
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Effective problem-solving skills
Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure
Strong organizational skills
Capable of managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
All candidates must have a valid driver's license
Pass an extensive background check
Preferred
Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 5-8 + years of IT experience with emphasis in security and compliance
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited 4-year college/university in Computer Science, Cloud Computing, Networking or other related IT fields
Experience in a government or highly regulated environment (e.g., HIPAA, CJIS, IRS 1075 compliance)
Experience implementing security best practices (e.g., IAM policies, encryption, network segmentation, SCPs)
Familiarity with DevOps principles, containerization (Docker, ECS, EKS), and serverless architectures
Proven experience mentoring junior staff and fostering a collaborative, learning-focused environment
