Material/Process Inspector III or IV
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is seeking a highly motivated individual to join their construction team as a Material/Process Inspector III or IV. This role involves leading and assisting with laboratory testing of construction materials, ensuring quality and compliance with TxDOT standards, and collaborating with engineers and project teams.

Responsibilities
Coordinates test and inspection results with engineers, inspectors, material producers and suppliers and field construction personnel and may assist in determining cause for material problems
Analyzes procedures to identify deficiencies and recommends improvements to management
Maintains a diary of inspection or test details
Maintains and calibrates equipment
Observes tests and inspections and reviews reports from other inspectors; performs quality assurance for tests and inspections
Performs tests and inspection duties
Prepares and maintains inspection or test reports and issues material reports
Reviews plans and material specifications for changes in material requirements
Secures, logs in and prepares samples of raw materials or manufactured materials at various stages of production for testing
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
May serve as a lead worker by serving as a resource for complex questions; presenting workflow and operational updates to the supervisor/manager; providing input on team members’ career conversations; and approving leave requests to ensure operations coverage
Drives/travels to laboratories, manufacturing plants, points of supply, warehouses and project sites to monitor status of programs, meet with supervisors and managers to resolve problems and perform unannounced inspection of operations
Plans, coordinates, assigns, monitors and reviews the work of technical employees
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies
2 years of experience in laboratory work, material inspection or other engineering related work for Material/Process Inspector III
3 years of experience in laboratory work, material inspection or other engineering related work for Material/Process Inspector IV
Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle

Proficient skill in maintaining a safe and effective working relationship with others
