Office Assistant (General) - Mailroom
The California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation is seeking an Office Assistant (General) to manage the processing of inmate mail and maintain an inmate roster. The role involves ensuring timely routing of mail and acting as a representative of the Mail Room in the absence of supervisory staff.

Responsibilities
Process incoming inmate mail, including the searching and routing of mail to the proper housing unit
Distribute staff and inter-institutional and intra-institutional mail
Maintain an inmate roster reflecting the movement of inmates within the prison
Process priority/certified/registered/legal mail and maintains a each respective mail log
Utilizing SOMS/ERMS as needed and other computer programs, to find accurate housing for transferred inmates
Ensure mail is re-routed in a timely manner
Act as a responsible representative of the Mail Room in the absence of supervisory staff
Qualification
Required
Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment
If you are meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification
Official transcripts may be required upon appointment
Candidates new to CDCR or are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter
