Utah Community Credit Union (UCCU) is seeking a Loan Officer responsible for receiving, reviewing, and processing inbound applications for consumer loans. The role involves evaluating loan applications, ensuring compliance with credit policies, and providing excellent member service while cross-selling loan products.

Responsibilities

Assumes responsibility for effectively receiving, reviewing, and processing loan applications

Interviews by phone and takes applications, gathers information, and processes preliminary documentation on loan requests. Processes any and all loans submitted online or mobile devices. Calls the member if there is more information required to process the application to completion

Evaluates and verifies loan applications and credit criteria. Computes debt ratios and reviews liabilities. Verifies employment and income. Determines value of collateral. Approves loans within limits of authority, if applicable, and notifies applicants of loan decisions. Requests additional information if required

Follows up with applicants in a timely manner to ensure we are meeting our member’s needs

Coordinates and processes closings. Ensures that each loan is promptly and properly prepared, documented, attached, processed, approved, and disbursed

Calculates terms, finance charges, and additional products (Gap, Warranty, DC) on loans for proper disclosure on promissory notes

Assists in servicing loans by processing such items as payoff, refinances, address changes, collateral releases, and payment due date changes

Assumes responsibility for filing vehicle titles and prompt follow-up on titles still pending. Verifies car insurance coverage. Inspects collateral as needed

Sells debt protection, GAP and warranty products effectively to our members

Ensures that lending operations are conducted in accordance with established Credit Union policies and are legally compliant. Ensures that loan requests are properly documented

Working on the Certification Program

Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relationships with members

Resolves members' requests and questions promptly and courteously. Provides book values and answers questions regarding credit union loan products

Provides members with member service assistance as needed

Ensures that the Credit Union's quality and professional reputation is protected and maintained

Counsels members regarding money management and financial matters

Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and communication with area personnel and with management

Assists area personnel as needed. Assists other Loan Officers and entire Consumer Loan Department as needed

Assists in training and cross-training loan support personnel

Completes reports and records promptly and accurately. Audits loans and all supporting documents as required

Attends meetings as required

Keeps Management informed of area activities and of any significant problems

Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned

Actively and professionally cross-sells Credit Union services

Stays informed regarding local and national economic conditions and legal and regulatory changes

Ensures proper maintenance, cleanliness, and security of work area, desks, equipment, etc

Exudes caring and professional attitude in all interactions with members, prospective members and coworkers

Required

High school graduate with required loan training and certification

Knowledge of Credit Union loan services, policies, and procedures

Understanding of related legal and regulatory standards, and required loan documentation

Knowledge of consumer lending practices

Previous related experience helpful

Excellent interviewing, communication, and public relations skills

Professional appearance and attitude

Strong analytical and financial skills

Ability to operate related computer applications, and other business equipment including calculators, computer, printer, telephone, and notary stamp, if applicable

Good typing skills

Ability to deal with a variety of variables under only limited standardization

Able to interpret various instructions

Able to perform very simple algebra

Ability to read a variety of books, magazines, instruction manuals, atlases, and encyclopedias

Ability to prepare memos, reports, and essays using proper punctuation, spelling and grammar
