Responsibilities

Assists with patient care

Assists technologist in set up of procedure according to standards of care and hospital/departmental protocol

Handles laboratory specimens according to hospital protocol, maintaining hospital standard of zero tolerance for mishandled specimens

Assists the technologist during procedures as requested

Retrieves necessary equipment and supplies

Assists in patient/equipment preparation

Performs follow-up actions as directed

Reviews and implements the multi-disciplinary Plan of Care for each patient

Collaborates with technologist in implementation of plan

Consistently demonstrates safe skill implementation and completes equipment/procedural change in-services

Performs technical skills at a level consistent with or higher than level achieved during initial competency check-off

Documents pertinent patient information on requisition

Completes hospital forms per protocol

Accurately informs Technologist of orders according to SJHMC time performance standards
