OPO Surgical Recovery Coordinator 1
The University of Miami is a leading academic medical center, and they are seeking an OPO Surgical Recovery Coordinator 1. This role is responsible for the recovery, packaging, preservation, and transportation of cadaveric organs for surgical transplants, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and operating procedures.

Responsibilities
Works with surgical staff in the clinical recovery, preservation, and transportation of organs
Coordinates with the staff in operating room for local procurements and abroad (i.e. requiring flight transportation) with clinical recovery and preservation of organs for transplantation, and undertakes extensive communications with transplant center, according to established guidelines
Recovers organs and tissues for research as guided by Medical Director or LAORA leadership in accordance with protocols established by partnered research entity
Operate kidney preservation machine and maintain accurate clinical preservation records while on preservation duty
Documents all recovery activities completely and accurately
Assists with maintaining recovery instruments and equipment
Provides training and continuing education to all recovery personnel
Orders, stocks, receives, and rotates all durable and consumable supplies
Works with other recovery agencies to ensure good working relationships and customer service
Ensures recovery was done in accordance with regulatory agencies’ policies
Ensures compliance with all OSHA and HIPPA protocols
Maintains logs on all equipment and schedules monthly cleaning of recovery suite(s)
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree or medical certification, Licensure/Registration, Surgical Technician
Two years clinical experience/critical care experience
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion
Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary
Commitment to the University's core values
Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment
Preferred
Bachelor's Degree
CPTC Certification a plus
Relevant combination of education and work experience will be considered
Hospital Operating Room and/or Surgical Tech experience preferred
