Senior Merchandising Analyst

The Senior Merchandising Analyst will support the Marketing Department by creating and implementing Planograms, performing detailed analysis to assist Category Managers in their buying decisions, and generating reports to drive strategic merchandise decisions.

Responsibilities
Maintain master file for store closing, openings, fixture and grocery dates for AIM Stores
Order items as listed below from warehouse for AIM Stores and also follow up with the -warehouse team to ensure fixtures, supply and groceries to the appropriate truck and also track items that are that were previously out of stock and reorder when available

Assign Planograms and provide the POS team planogram set size
Set up AIM Box
Update master file and PDI tags
Print planograms
Communicate with environmental team to ensure environmental information is also included in the box
Find images and dimensions for new items
Add/remove to warehouse system for ordering
Plan for updating planograms to publish
Add items into SMIRF groups
Give POS information for blocking per planograms
Create and update planograms across all categories and also do the same for promotional and seasonal changes to planograms
Assign / reassign planograms and publish them to stores
Add and update items to planograms (including dimensions, UPC, OZ and upload image of the product to planograms)
Add items to SMIRF group and also review bulletin for new/discon/changed items
Add new items to MVS after items have been added to the bulletin
Print PDI tags for special projects
Provide support to category managers, regional managers, store managers and area sales managers etc. on planograms, products and other general questions
Analyze existing planograms and products using SMIRF data, Apollo and various analytical financial data findings to identify potential opportunities within a category
Create analytical and statistical reports of items by category, size and other dimensions to enable category managers to make strategic decisions on the merchandise
Analyze data from various systems and provide insights on product performance and make recommendation on product placements and category expansions to drive revenue
Provide product performance reports using Apollo ranking on metrics such movement, sales and profit to identify additional profit opportunities
Generate additional reports as listed below to support the marketing team
Sales and multiple performance measure of a product
Top and least performing items based on multiple performance measures (Movement, Sales and Profit)
Item or a group of items that are over spaced or under spaced
Products and space allocated to them within a set
Facings an item has in a set or multiple sets
Product identification report to Identify if a particular item (using the PDI#) exists within a set or multiple sets
Store planogram report. Identifying planograms a particular store has been assigned
Category range – identify total number of stores within each set size along with the list of stores assigned to each set
Sales comparison of two products across any set
Set specific queries
If we want to select e.g. all the Italian dressings in the section, we can search the Long Description field for items that contain the characters ‘Italian’
Select e.g. Italian salad dressings that sell more than $50 a week per store
Identify items within a set that are over spaced with a space to profit Index greater than 200
Identify 5 top or least performing items within section
Identify all items that has more than 1 facing within a set
Assist in category resets. Generate some in-depth analysis using Apollo to research product trends, power ranking, space to profit index, space to sales index return on investment, range optimization to make better-informed decisions on upcoming resets
Further dive into Apollo to generate more detailed analysis, trends, or patterns in sales data, so we can determine both opportunities, and potential problems
Analyze product movement to optimize sales. (If it’s declining product, we can make timely decisions to discontinue the product and identify high margin product opportunities within the market
Generate financial analytical reports on top and least performing items within each category using various Apollo financial measures and range optimization
Analyze data and identify cannibalization of products due to product mix or other causes and provide recommendation to improve product mix
Dive deeper into Apollo to identify further opportunities and features that could be beneficial
Publish standard financial and statistical reports periodically to provide insights and trends for each of our categories
Find space for new products
Out of stock reports
Product report that we need to nurture and keep an eye out for
Products that should potentially be replaced with others to promise a better contribution to the business
Ensure fair share of space for the category or brand
Out of stocks and overstocks report
Qualification
Required
Minimum Education: HS Diploma or GED
Minimum Experience: 5 years of experience in retail merchandising, analytics or related field
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong Presentation Skills
Ability to foster teamwork and build collaborative relationships
Strong interpersonal skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred
Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree
Preferred Experience: 5+ years of experience in retail merchandising, analytics or related field. Progression from entry-level merchandising or analyst roles. A strong understanding of consumer behavior, market trends, and retail operations. Apollo/Space Management training
