Florence County SC is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for its employees and community. The Paralegal is responsible for performing a variety of legal functions including document preparation, case management, and assisting Solicitors with legal proceedings.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits a variety of documents

Prepares legal files and subpoenas for Solicitors

Obtains criminal histories, reports, statements, photos, and videos from law enforcement agencies

Enters all information, documents, photos, and videos into case management system

Schedules evaluations with South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (DDSN) and Department of Mental Health (DMH) for defendants

Prepares reports from evaluations

Files and tracks restraining orders

Organizes supporting documents, exhibits, and evidence

Performs research according to office policy and precedent

Interacts, communicates and provides assistance to various individuals and groups including immediate supervisor, co-workers, Assistant Solicitors, Victims, Public Defenders, other County employees, Law Enforcement Agencies, and defense attorneys

May assist new employees in operation of Case Management system, indictment preparation, Rule 5 Response as well as everyday operations

Performs all other related duties as required

Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies required

Must have general knowledge of state, county, and/or local governments with specific knowledge of General Sessions, Common Pleas Court and Family Court
