Staff Counsel - In-House Attorney, Colorado Springs, CO
Young Life is an organization dedicated to introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith. They are seeking a Staff Counsel to serve as in-house legal counsel, providing legal advice on various matters, managing contracts, and supporting compliance with state and federal laws.

Responsibilities
Serve as in-house legal counsel for Young Life advising on a variety of legal matters
Assist in providing full scope of legal representation to Young Life with a primary focus on legal support for Young Life in the United States, as directed by leadership
Prepare, review, and manage contracts – such as service contracts, leases, and construction contracts
Dispute resolution and litigation management
Provide legal advice on employment matters, including compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, internal investigations, and legal support to HR and supervisors
Assist with global data protection, privacy, and security compliance
Prepare and review corporate documents
Work with Young Life staff across the U.S. and around the world to assist in legal matters
Work with and manage outside legal counsel to achieve necessary services within budget constraints
Work with multi-functional teams (Missions Services, Camping, Field, etc.)
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor degree
License to practice law in the United States, with the ability to achieve Colorado licensing within six months
Minimum 2-5 years of previous experience as a licensed attorney
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to maintain positive work relationships and collaborate; a heart to serve others
Proven ability to work within a team: adaptable, compassionate, and gracious
Posture of listening, learning, and curiosity
Self-starter, detail-oriented, and organized; good project management skills; ability to track and complete multiple tasks and projects; consistent follow-through
Process-oriented, but flexible to change depending on the needs of other individuals and departments
Diplomatic; good negotiation skills; willingness to hold others accountable to ministry policy and procedure while maintaining positive relationships
Experience with contract drafting, review, and negotiation
Legal research skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as Adobe
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent grammar, editing and proofreading skills
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with work-related information
Preferred
Prior experience in transactional law (corporate, contracts, etc.), litigation, and employment law preferred
Previous ministry experience as employee or volunteer preferred
