Principal Electrical Engineer - Harness and Connector Design

Responsibilities

Lead a small team of engineers and technicians pertaining to project responsibilities, priorities, workload, etc
Oversee Development of LV and HV schematics
Selection of appropriate connectors, contacts, wire, shielding, and cable
Identify suppliers of LV and HV harness components
Work with internal and external manufacturing facilities for both prototype and production builds
Participate in and facilitate concept reviews, design reviews, and design FMEAs
Facilitate or participate in harness mockup/design reviews
Write test requests and create technical reports
Development and execution of validation plans
Support system-level vessel testing and validation of electrical hardware
Assist with or lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for technical issues related to electrical harnesses
Participate in cross-functional product development teams through Mercury’s High-Performance Product Development stage-gated process

Required

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
8 years of related experience
Prior team leadership experience
Excellent problem definition and solving techniques
Strong teamwork skills and ability to work among cross-functional teams

Preferred

PTC / CREO tool experience
Experience working with Low and High Voltage harnessing
Familiarity with industry standards for HV harnessing, cables, and connectors
Familiarity with applicable standards such as SAE J1127, J1128, J378, and U.S. Coast Guard CFR 183.450 Electrical System Standard
