Mid-Level Physicist

Arcfield is a company that has supported Navy Strategic Systems Programs for over 65 years. They are seeking a Mid-Level Physicist to conduct radiation survivability assessments and research, performing scientific analysis and computational modeling to evaluate radiation environments and their effects on Navy weapon systems.

Responsibilities

Contribute to team efforts in the completion of radiation environment studies of flight systems
Perform modeling and simulation of radiation and electromagnetic effects on materials and electronics
Perform calculations with 2D and 3D radiation transport codes
Simulate electromagnetic phenomena using 3D FDTD and FEM codes
Perform circuit response analysis from first principles using tools such as SPICE
Implement calculations and simulations using numerical methods and quantify the uncertainties
Perform model validation studies using experiment results
Assist the customer in system planning, requirement definition, assessment, and qualification of current and future Navy weapon systems
Write professional scientific papers for distribution within Arcfield and the broader scientific community
Develop and deliver results at customer and peer review meetings
Interface directly with the customer
Travel for meetings and customer interactions as required

Required

A BS degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of related experience; a MS degree and 3+ years of related experience; or a PhD
Experience in computational electromagnetics and/or radiation transport simulations and software
Experience with a programming language such as Python, Fortran, or C++
Experience presenting results
Knowledge of electronic circuit analysis and/or solid-state physics
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance

Preferred

Desire to join a team of motivated and highly skilled engineers and scientists
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Experience presenting results to technical SMEs and government customers
Strong oral and written communication skills – particularly with respect to technical reports and presentations
Proficiency with Windows and/or Linux operating systems, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite
