Investments Intern
New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF) is seeking high-performing and motivated candidates for their Investments Intern position within the Investment Department. This internship will provide insight into various investment activities and strategies across multiple teams, including Alternatives, Sustainable Investing, Corporate Fixed Income, and Portfolio Management.

Responsibilities
Assist in market research, fund manager due diligence, and portfolio monitoring for the Alternatives Team
Evaluate ESG risks and analyze sustainable investment opportunities for the Sustainable Investing Team
Support the development of climate-related frameworks for the Sustainable Investing Team
Provide assistance with financial modeling and data analysis for the Portfolio Management Team
Interpret financial data and evaluate investment-grade securities for the Corporate Fixed Income Team
Qualification
Required
Enrolled full-time in a college, university, or graduate program in New York State and have completed a minimum of one (1) year of studies or be a New York State Permanent resident enrolled in a college, university, or graduate program
Corporate Fixed Income Team: Applicants should have a strong foundation in company analysis, corporate finance, and economics, with the ability to interpret financial data and evaluate investment-grade securities
Portfolio Management Team: Proficiency in coding and programming languages such as Python, R, VBA, or similar tools for financial modeling and data analysis. Interest in Financial Markets: Strong enthusiasm for understanding and analyzing market trends, portfolio strategies, and investment dynamics
Alternatives Team: Specializes in private equity, private debt, and real assets investments. Interns will assist in market research, fund manager due diligence, portfolio monitoring as well as ad hoc project(s). Familiarity with financial statement analysis and high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred
Sustainable Investing Team: Interns will evaluate ESG risks, analyze sustainable investment opportunities, and support the development of climate-related frameworks. Interns should have strong writing and quantitative skills, with familiarity in statistical data analysis to evaluate ESG risks, identify sustainable investment opportunities, and support climate-focused strategies and frameworks
Able to work full-time Summer (up to 37.5 hours per week)
Preferred
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis)
Working knowledge of PowerPoint for report creation and visual presentations
Strong writing skills
Solid foundation in Finance, Economics, Sustainability
Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.3, or the letter grade equivalent
