Responsibilities
Managing product classification, valuation reviews, country of origin determinations and protests
Navigating ITAR, EAR, and OFAC sanctions, including licensing and technology transfers as well as voluntary disclosures
Leading internal audits, filing prior disclosures, and representing clients in penalty mitigation or seizure negotiations with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
Interpreting and implementing USMCA and other free trade agreements
Addressing antidumping/countervailing duties (ADD/CVD), retaliatory tariffs, and Mexican trade laws (such as IMMEX compliance)
Qualification
Required
Strong skills in Research, essential for analyzing complex international trade and compliance matters
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to advocate effectively and achieve favorable outcomes for clients
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities
Preferred
Prefer a candidate that is admitted to practice law in the state of Texas
Experience or specialization in international trade or customs law is a significant advantage
