Scale Technician

The Scale Technician is responsible for operating grain scales and computer systems, ensuring the quality of inbound and outbound products, and performing various clerical duties related to grain origination and merchandising operations.

Responsibilities

Operate truck scales and computer systems
Accurately grade all quality factors of inbound grains
Apply scale tickets to contracts
Work within the grain accounting system to set up new accounts
Grain contract administration; filing contracts, mailing contracts (inbound & outbound mail), managing contract signatures, and maintaining audit-ready contract files
Provide accounting support to Grain Merchandisers
Perform housekeeping duties necessary to maintain a clean work area inside and outside of the scale house area
Telephone reception as needed
Always promote excellent customer service with external customers/grain haulers
Champion POET in the community

Required

High school diploma or equivalent required
Consistently demonstrate a high level of customer service with a positive, friendly attitude
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
Excellent organization and time management skills with a sense of urgency that drives results
Knowledge of the basics of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability of learning new programs
The ability to show up to work on time and work beyond regular business hours as needed
High level of personal integrity, maintaining confidentiality on all business-related matters
Interpersonal skills – ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels within/outside the organization
Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Ability to exercise sound business judgment and discretion
Ability to think objectively
Ability to work individually and in a team environment

Preferred

One (1) to five (5) years of administrative assistant or accounting experience or other agriculture customer service experience preferred, with a demonstrated background of success
Grain accounting experience
Thorough knowledge of grain receiving/grading procedures
