Senior Operations Engineer (Onsite with full relocation - Vernal, Utah or Rock Springs, Wyoming)
Harvest Midstream Company is focused on optimizing pipeline and facility performance, and they are seeking a Senior Operations Engineer to provide advanced engineering and technical support. The role involves leading projects, enhancing operational safety, and mentoring junior engineers while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
Lead root cause analyses and performance optimization across gathering, compression, and processing systems
Develop and execute engineering solutions that enhance throughput, minimize downtime, and extend asset life
Partner with field operations, control room, and maintenance teams to improve reliability, reduce unplanned outages, and enhance operational safety
Utilize hydraulic modeling, process simulation, and data analytics to evaluate system bottlenecks and develop cost-effective solutions
Support process hazard analyses (PHAs), management of change (MOC), and other PSM-related activities for compliance and continuous improvement
Develop scope, cost estimates, and schedules for O&M and capital projects ($1MM–$10MM)
Lead or provide technical oversight on engineering, procurement, and construction activities for new facilities and system upgrades
Manage third-party engineering contractors and ensure technical accuracy, cost control, and compliance with standards and regulatory requirements
Support the design, startup, and commissioning of new or modified facilities
Collaborate with the Integrity Management team to support inline inspection (ILI) evaluations, pipeline integrity assessments, and risk mitigation projects
Evaluate corrosion control programs, material selection, and integrity dig data to support pipeline and facility longevity
Ensure all activities comply with DOT 192/195, OSHA 1910, PHMSA, and company standards
Participate in incident investigations and develop corrective/preventive action plans
Provide engineering and economic analysis to support commercial development, AFE justification, and acquisition due diligence
Prepare and present technical and financial reports to leadership, demonstrating sound engineering judgment and business acumen
Identify opportunities for cost savings, energy efficiency, and emissions reduction
Mentor junior engineers and interns in operations, process simulation, and project management
Lead technical reviews, champion lessons-learned programs, and promote a culture of integrity, innovation, and continuous improvement
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or related discipline)
Minimum 5 years of experience in midstream oil and gas operations, facilities engineering, or related field
Demonstrated ability to support or lead compression, dehydration, gas processing, or pipeline operations
Strong knowledge of hydraulic modeling and process simulation tools (e.g., PipeSim, ProMax, Aspen HYSYS)
Proficiency with P&IDs, process flow diagrams, heat and material balances, and equipment sizing
Familiarity with integrity management principles and relevant regulations (DOT 192/195, OSHA, PHMSA)
Proven ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, and cross-functional teams
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both field and corporate stakeholders
Preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within two years
Experience leading MOCs, PHAs, or facility start-ups
Advanced data analysis or process optimization experience (Power BI, Seeq, or equivalent)
Demonstrated leadership potential and interest in future operations management roles
