They are seeking a Project Leader responsible for the safety, security, and training of young offenders in forestry and community-based work projects, including fire control and forest management.

Responsibilities

Provide training in a variety of forestry and community-based work projects, such as fire control, forest management, trail construction, nursery work, variety of vocational projects and emergency situations

Ensure safety and security of young offenders during training and work projects

Direct daily activities and adjust to meet the needs of the Program

Required

Associate's degree in forest management or an environmental or natural science curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related experience in providing forestry services; or an equivalent combination of training and experience

Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license required within 90 days of hire

Knowledge of fire control and/or firefighting techniques, or firefighting equipment, or prescribed burning

Knowledge or experience directing daily activities

Knowledge or experience in a vocational skill, such as carpentry, painting, masonry, plumbing, or mechanical systems

Ability to train and instruct

Ability to adjust to meet the needs of the Program
