Tool and Die Manager

Responsibilities

Scheduling sufficient daily/weekly time for assessing and aggressively improving the department's support of company strategic and innovative plans, including safety and quality systems
Developing, securing approval for, implementing, and controlling the department's annual budget and investment plan items
Maintaining a safe working environment for all associates in compliance with company safety policies
Recommending, purchasing, and approving equipment essential for maintaining dies
Providing routine and special reports to the plant manager
Planning and working within established company guidelines (3, 5, 7, and 10-year plans)
Attending business conferences and strategy meetings, providing input and status of the die maintenance department
Participating in daily SMED, production, and planning meeting activities
Assuring proper repair is completed on all dies and department standards are followed
Assuring the proper training of all tooling associates to meet all required skills/knowledge
Analyzing department work force utilization, layout, and operation data to determine efficient utilization of associates and equipment
Assisting in the predictive and preventive maintenance of all area machinery
Participating in strategic and innovative planning processes and linking department improvement activities to approved plans
Drafting and presenting the annual innovation plan for the tooling department
Training and delegating appropriate responsibilities to personnel to carry out innovation plan activities
Applying Deming principles and other root cause analysis tools when analyzing problems
Complying with the requirements defined in the roles and responsibilities matrix of the health and environmental management systems (ISO 45001 and ISO 14001)

Required

A Bachelor's degree is required
Must have 5+ years of Tool and Die experience
Experience leading SMED and Trim teams is required
Experience with large automotive die cast machines or industry related experience is necessary
English and Spanish are required
Must be resourceful and have the ability to provide clear and analytical thinking and problem-solve
