Responsibilities

Perform assembly work utilizing lean principles (one-piece flow) to produce FDA regulated devices in a controlled collaborative work environment
Read and interpret basic Engineer blueprints and utilize Assembly Instructions to assemble medical device products
Manage, evaluate, and assemble components or sub-assemblies accurately and efficiently using small hand tools
Work safely in a demanding environment performing tasks while standing and/or walking for extended periods
Lift and carry up to forty (40) pounds safely
Bend, stoop, and squat to perform tasks periodically
Perform in-process inspections and testing to ensure product meets established Engineering and Quality requirements
Accurately and legibly record in-process and finished product test results on Device History Record (DHR)
Identify and report any defects or problems encountered during the assembly process
Troubleshoot simple equipment malfunctions
Clearly communicate, collaborate, and work effectively with others in a team environment
Cross-train throughout home department as needed
Support and promote a safe working environment through adherence to established Safety procedures and guidelines
Maintain and sustain a clean and organized work environment
Sustain minimum productivity standards once trained
Demonstrate basic arithmetic and counting skills
Adapt to conditions as dictated by business requirements

Required

High school graduate/GED
Aptitude and ability to read and interpret basic Engineer blueprints and utilize Assembly Instructions (“Standard Work”) to assembly medical device products. Typically joining mechanical and hydraulic components to include some basic electrical wiring
Ability to manage, evaluate, and assemble components or sub-assemblies accurately and efficiently using small hand tools (tape measure, wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, level, torque wrenches, etc.) to align or position components
Ability to work safely in a demanding environment performing task while standing and/or walking for extended periods (70%-100% of the day)
Ability to safety lift and carry up to forty (40) pounds
Ability to periodically bend, stoop, and squat to perform tasks
Inspects and performs finished product testing to ensure product meets establish Engineering and Quality requirements
Expected to accurately and legibly record in-process and finished product test results on Device History Record (DHR)
Identify and report any defects or problems encountered during the assembly process
Ability to troubleshoot simple equipment malfunctions
Demonstrates the ability to clearly communicate, collaborate, and work effectively with others in a team environment
Ability and willingness to cross-train throughout home department
Supports and promotes a Safe working environment/habit through adherence to STERIS established Safety procedures and guidelines
Expected to maintain and sustain a clean and organized work environment
Ability to sustain minimum productivity standards once trained
Demonstrates basic arithmetic and counting skills
Ability to adapt to conditions as dictated by business requirements Conforms to policies, procedures, and Code of Conduct as provided in Employee Handbook

Preferred

Previous assembly experience with small or complex assemblies preferred; 1 - 2 years
Ability to perform in-process inspections and testing preferred; 1 – 2 years
Basic knowledge, understanding, and application of basic LEAN manufacturing tools such as 5S, Kanban, Visual Management, and Problem Solving are preferred
