Payroll Manager
Herc Rentals is one of the leading equipment rental suppliers in North America, and they are seeking a Payroll Manager to oversee payroll functions. This role involves ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time, while maintaining compliance with government regulations and contributing to employee growth.

Responsibilities
Ensure accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings and company deductions
Process adjustments and other Miscellaneous files, e.g., 401k, bonus, OT and commissions
Assist with review and audit of the weekly and biweekly payroll runs
Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local laws
Oversee the administration of the electronic timekeeping system
Fosters the Company’s core values and culture throughout the work environment
Coaches and provide leadership, motivation, and supervision of direct reports
Full-cycle processing weekly and biweekly multi state US payrolls while incorporating payroll data from multiple internal departments and external benefit providers. This includes maintaining supporting documentation for authorization for all changes
Process off-cycle payroll batches, as necessary
Assist with payroll compliance matters such as multi-state/multi-jurisdiction tax withholding, garnishments, and key annual audits (e.g., 401 (k), workers compensations, external financial audit)
Identify opportunities and recommend scalable processes to enhance payroll operational efficiency while maintaining accuracy. This includes assisting the Payroll Manager with the design and implementation of internal control measures and periodic review of compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley
Reconcile and validate 401(k)/Roth contributions, Benefit files and other third party vendor files and resolve discrepancies
Demonstrate active participation in Herc Rentals Safety Culture, always prioritizing the safety of team members and customers alike
Support all team members
Learn and follow all company procedures and protocols
Qualification
Required
5+ Years of experience in a payroll function, preferably in a fast-paced/ public company environment
Experience with multi-state payroll larger than 1,000 employees with both exempt and nonexempt employees
Detailed knowledge of payroll compliance and working knowledge of state/federal employment laws/regulations
Proven ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-growing environment with frequently changing priorities
Possess a tech-savvy mindset and passion for end-to-end design and improvement
Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with various levels of difficulty in a fast-paced environment
Must be proficient in the use of a spreadsheet (MS Excel and Google), word processing (MS Word and Google)
3+ Years of Experience as a supervisor or lead in a payroll team
BS/BA degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance
Attention to detail
Multi-tasking individual who uses project management skills to accomplish goals
Customer service focused
Must react to changing business needs
Solid and proven computer skill set (knowledge of MS Office is preferred)
Works and communicates effectively with all levels of the company
