Senior RF Engineer, Kuiper
Amazon is launching Project Kuiper, an initiative to provide high-speed broadband connectivity through a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites. They are seeking a Senior RF Engineer to develop requirements, review designs, and build test capabilities for WiFi, GNSS, and Bluetooth subsystems.

Responsibilities
Perform link budget analysis, select appropriate RF ICs and passive components, review and optimize PCB schematics and layouts
Use specialized test equipment to validate RF performance from the sub-component to the system level
Validate RF performance and troubleshoot RF issues from the sub-component to the system level
Collaborate with verification and validation engineers to create test plans that thoroughly validate designs and efficiently address system integration challenges
Work cross-functionally with other engineers to meet challenging form factor and industrial design requirements while preventing unintentional radiators from negatively impacting RF receiver sensitivity
Collaborate with manufacturing test and operations teams to review RF test fixture design and setup so that device RF performance can be tested efficiently to the correct specifications at the factory
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
5+ years of hardware design and validation of components, subsystems and systems experience
Experience in wireless system design and architecture, system integration, and RF system analysis
Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout software tools (preferably Cadence tools)
Experience with system integration risks and challenges posed by wireless technologies such as WiFi, GNSS, Bluetooth, and IEEE 802.15.4
Experience with troubleshooting capabilities for complex RF sub-system issues, including TX/RX and throughput performance degradation
Experience bringing up radio prototypes, developing, and running RF validation tests using specialized equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and LitePoint IQxel integrated testers
Experience with DFM and high-volume manufacturing test requirements for RF sub-systems
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred
Master's degree or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Experience with major router platforms
Experience with network throughput optimization
Experience with Qualcomm WiFi platforms
Knowledge of design and testing requirements for compliance with FCC and ETSI regulatory standards for radio transmitters
Experience with GNSS radio integration, development and testing
At least five full product development cycles leading to the successful launch of a consumer product
Strong written and verbal communication skills
