New Business Development Associate (w/ bakery experience)
National Cortina is a multi-faceted organization in the food industry, specializing in imported ingredients and private label solutions. The New Business Development Associate will identify and develop new business opportunities in the bakery sector, expanding the customer base and supporting sales initiatives across various channels.
Responsibilities
Research and identify new business opportunities in the bakery, ingredient, and foodservice markets
Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified leads through networking, outreach, and industry research
Support the development and execution of strategic sales initiatives to expand market reach
Assist in the onboarding and coordination of new customer accounts
Participate in customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events to promote National Cortina’s brands and capabilities
Prepare and deliver presentations, proposals, and pricing summaries under the guidance of senior sales leaders
Work collaboratively with key customers to identify needs and tailor product solutions
Foster positive relationships with distributors, brokers, and manufacturing partners to strengthen business opportunities
Partner with Marketing to develop materials that support new business outreach and category positioning
Work with Operations and Supply Chain teams to ensure alignment on product availability, timelines, and fulfillment requirements
Provide customer and market insights to inform product development and promotional initiatives
Maintain accurate CRM documentation of all leads, opportunities, and follow-ups
Track progress toward sales and pipeline goals, identifying potential gaps or areas for improvement
Support monthly reporting on business development metrics and achievements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field
3–5 years of experience in business development, account coordination, or sales within the bakery, ingredient, or CPG food industry
Familiarity with the U.S. bakery market, customer networks, and distribution channels
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Proactive, organized, and results-driven, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, or equivalent)
Strong organizational and documentation skills
Clear written and verbal communication
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
