Senior Technical Leader, Senior Vehicle Operations Manager

USAJOBS is seeking a Senior Vehicle Operations Manager (SVOM) who will report to the Manager of the Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) Program. Responsibilities

Is responsible for the overall management, planning, integration, and execution of all operational processing activities required for readiness of human exploration mission systems, such as the Orion spacecraft, Space Launch System (SLS) launch vehicle, and supporting ground systems
Manages the planning, directing, coordination, integration, and scheduling of operations for current and future exploration missions and represents EGS to program managers, other Centers, other Government agencies, and contractors in support of both near- and long-term launch schedules and milestones
Formulates the procedures and processes for integration and test of flight and ground systems to prepare for the launch operations of human-rated exploration missions
Collaborates with other Artemis programs and EGS Program elements to develop policies and management procedures to accomplish Program/Mission objectives for safe human space flight
Works with Artemis Enterprise program leadership, including exploration and commercial partners, civil service employees, and contractor personnel to ensure integration of technical and schedule development as well as implications for assigned tasks and products generated
Leads the flight hardware processing flow for the EGS Program and Artemis Enterprise; sets direction and leads the planning and execution of processes and schedules for all aspects of Artemis ground operations activities
Plans all operational ground processing activities including planned tests and integration of hardware elements and development of the products required to execute the operation
Leads across multiple Artemis flight system-provider programs to plan and execute operational and technical activities using resources from KSC institutional organizations and flight hardware development Centers, to assure the requirements, limited operational life item requirements, Certification of Flight Readiness, and other operational processes are executed effectively and efficiently
Integrates planning for processing and launch training activities as well as the integration, scheduling, and oversight of implementation of flight hardware test, checkout, vehicle assessment, and launch processing preparedness leading disciplined teams of civil service and contractor personnel
Establishes resources, schedule, and technical requirements while overseeing overall performance to meet these requirements
Provides technical guidance for the overall work effort associated with the vehicle flow and renders authoritative decisions on operations and processing matters

Required

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major study in engineering, physical science, mathematics, life sciences, computer science, or other field of science
Candidates must be a recognized subject matter expert with at least 1 year of directly related experience equivalent to the GS-15 level in program/project management that includes leading a disciplined team in the areas of engineering, safety, human health and performance, and human-rated space flight operations to make critical mission and programmatic decisions on technical enhancement and certification of operational ground processing activities and flight hardware processing
The individual selected will be required to file an 'Executive Branch Personnel Financial Disclosure Report' (OGE-278e) within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on
Successful completion of a background investigation commensurate with the risk and sensitivity level of the position
Successful completion of random drug screening may be required
Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required by the position
Must be a U.S. Citizen or National
Must meet qualifications requirements by the closing date of this announcement
