Responsibilities

Establishing plans and initiatives to support and achieve the strategic direction, goals and objectives of the Department and ensuring optimum economic performance
Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating unique and complex programs associated with clinical pharmacy and investigational drug services
Coordinating with Clinicians and Nurses to develop patient care initiatives in the context of clinical trials and research methodologies, protocol design, and trial implementation
Developing integration programs that focus on patient directed health care and shared decision making
Providing leadership regarding planning, purchasing, implementing and maintaining information systems that include systems that support patient safety and care and efficient processing and that facilitate efficient and effective work such as electronic health records, computerized provider order entry, clinical decision support (CDS), automated medication reconciliation
Reviewing and approving short and long range strategic plans developed by subordinate supervisors for workforce supervision and development to assure the availability of an engaged highly specialized and high performing staff

Required

A Doctor of Pharmacy degree recognized by Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and a Pharmacist License are required
Applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date
Employment is subject to the successful completion of a background investigation, verification of qualifications, completion of onboarding forms, submission of required documents, and any other job-related requirement before or after appointment
Applicants must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement
Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered with the Selective Service
Position requires Education: Please provide a copy of your transcripts
Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors
If selected, you must pass a pre-employment medical examination: May be required to provide proof of influenza vaccination
A one-year supervisory probationary period may be required upon selection
This position has on-call or call-back requirements
In order to meet the minimum qualifications for each position described above you must have at least one year of professional pharmacy experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector
Providing leadership and guidance to protocol team members, staff, and pharmaceutical manufacturers on the development of the investigational agent and clinical protocols
Providing expert pharmaceutical advice to site pharmacist involving investigational agent properties, handling and storage, preclinical and toxicity data and problems with supply
Developing skills that integrate program goals and objectives
Designing short and long term range strategic plans for the workforce development, and staff professional development
Planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, training, and mentoring to other Pharmacists, medical monitors, and other staff on pharmacy issues, product issues and procedures for regulatory compliance

Preferred

Post-graduate year 1 and year 2 residency training or clinical fellowship
Board certification
At least 10 to 15 years of clinical pharmacy practice experience
