Research Assistant - Biology

Augusta University is Georgia's innovation center for education and health care, training the next generation of innovators and healthcare providers. The research assistant will manage a Drosophila laboratory, overseeing husbandry, longevity experiments, and supervising undergraduate researchers while also engaging in molecular biology and data analysis tasks.

Responsibilities

Drosophila husbandry and maintenance of lifespan experiments
Perform general laboratory maintenance and organization
Supervise undergraduate researchers
Molecular biology (RNA and protein work)
Conduct data analysis
Perform other related duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research or clinical setting
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research or clinical area
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Basic understanding of laboratory techniques
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and critical thinking skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to use sound judgement and work independently

Preferred

Experience in molecular biology and statistical analyses is preferred
