Assistant Parks & Recreation Director
NEOGOV is seeking an Assistant Parks & Recreation Director for the City of Pensacola. This role involves assisting the Parks & Recreation Director in meeting community recreational needs, developing plans, and supervising staff to achieve departmental goals.

Responsibilities
Assists in planning, directing and coordinating the work of the Parks & Recreation Department
Monitors budget and expenditures, in addition to preparing budget estimates and overseeing budget implementation based on departmental appropriations
Assists with oversight of eleven (11) recreational facilities / community centers including the programs offered at such, ninety-four (94) parks, two (2) pools, a municipal golf course, a tennis complex, multiple athletic complexes, etc
Assists with the review and implementation of quality activities to ensure diverse services are made available to the community and meet community needs
Helps to coordinate the department resources and personnel to complete projects and events
Assists with the formulation of policies and procedures for and/or about Parks and Recreation related processes at the direction of the Parks & Recreation Director
Responsible for developing and delivering formal presentations to Council in the absence of the department director
Offers assistance with the selection of personnel for the department promotes and participates in the training and development of personnel, and is responsible for providing input and taking action on various personnel matters (i.e., disciplinary action, etc.) in cooperation with Human Resources
Works with the Parks & Recreation Director to coordinate tasks and projects within the Parks & Recreation Department, in addition to coordinating with other departments and agencies to implement programs
Prepares and maintains technical and administrative operating records and reports
Acts as a liaison with Federal, State, local, and other agencies
Performs related work assigned by the City Administrator
Qualification
Required
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in the appropriate discipline
Five (5) years of pertinent experience, two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity
Possession of an appropriate driver license for equipment operated and any license, training or certification required by law or regulation to complete assigned tasks
Preferred
Master's degree in Recreation Management, Parks and Recreation Management, or related field
