Staff Attorney III
Commonwealth of Kentucky is seeking an attorney to provide legal advice and representation within the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet. The role involves handling civil litigation, performing legal research, and providing training to Cabinet staff.

Handle civil federal and state litigation
Handle hearings before administrative bodies
Perform complex legal research and analysis
Prepare appellate briefs and oral arguments
Provide accurate and timely legal advice and assistance
Assist with open records questions and appeals
Provide training to Cabinet staff
Qualification
Required
Must have two years experience as a licensed attorney in the practice of law
Must be admitted to practice law and in good standing in the Commonwealth of Kentucky OR comply with Kentucky Supreme Court Rule (SCR) 2.111 (limited certification of admission to practice), SCR 2.112 (attorney participants in defender or legal services programs), SCR 2.117 (practice pending admission)
Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification
Preferred
Good attention to detail
Knowledge of employment law
Trial or administrative hearing experience
Knowledge of open records or administrative regulation law
The ability to maintain confidentiality
Strong analytical ability
The ability to work well under pressure
A willingness to work as part of a team
