Responsibilities
Face to face patient visits
Telehealth nursing
Care coordination of multidisciplinary appointments
Collaborates with the medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgical, and research care teams
Patient education related to breast symptom management/ issues, disease pathology, potential treatment options, and acupressure
Telephone care related to triaging breast concerns, care planning, and screening
Collaborates daily with physicians, advanced practitioners, desk operations, appointment specialists, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) and medical administrative assistants
Accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care
Supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family
Functions within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model
Accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients
Provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts
Delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources
Possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects
May be required to drive their personal vehicle as a part of the responsibility of their role
Qualification
Required
Registered Nurse (RN) license
Experience in direct patient care
Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Excellent communication skills
Skillful in mentoring and teaching
Accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care
Ability to delegate patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources
Knowledge of the ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice
Knowledge of the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AAACN) standards
Ability to provide patient education related to breast symptom management/issues, disease pathology, potential treatment options, and acupressure
Ability to perform telephone care related to triaging breast concerns, care planning, and screening
Ability to drive personal vehicle as required by the role
Completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification for TN sponsorship
