Property Standards Inspector I/II
Prince George's County Public Schools is seeking a Property Standards Inspector I/II to join their Department of Permitting, Inspections, & Enforcement. The role involves technical inspection and code enforcement work, focusing on the enforcement of County Codes for various properties and includes responsibilities such as issuing permits and resolving complaints.

Responsibilities
Inspects properties based upon routine surveys, complaints, and/or pending rental licenses
Signs permits or U&O permits to determine County code compliance
Interpret codes and regulations enforced by the division
Processes cases for enforcement action
Drafts violation notices, citations and other necessary correspondence in a timely manner
Resolves complaints received from both internal and external customers
Participates in meetings with citizens, owners, and management to address code-related issues and provide public education
Performs field inspection and enforcement assignments
Completes reports, attends and makes presentations before Courts and the Board of Appeals
Willingly and cooperatively performs tasks and duties which may not be specifically listed in the class specification or position description, but which are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class of work
Qualification
Required
Graduation from high school or equivalent
Must possess a valid driver's license and provide proof at time of interview
Must have a satisfactory driving record issued by the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA)
Must provide a current certified copy of a MVA record, at time of interview
Must wear safety shoes meeting departmental requirements
Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least thirty (30) pounds
Must be able to walk a flight of stairs and/or stand for periods of time
Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather, dust, including weather emergencies and other types of emergency conditions
Must be able to work before and after hours, rotating weekends and holidays
Must successfully pass a pre-employment physical to include alcohol and drug testing and a background check
Must be able to work Tuesday – Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and a flexible work schedule and/or compressed workweek
Must be able to write, read, comprehend and complete electronic and paper forms
Must be able to attend, after normal hour, meetings and special inspections events (evenings and weekends)
Be willing and able to serve as an essential employee. Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies. Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave
