Responsibilities

Responsible for key functions related to attracting talent, retention, and development of claim organization. Will have direct management of a team of claim professionals handling complex claims
Establishes and maintains accountability in the development of claim professional technical prowess and encourages professional growth
Accountable for developing key performance indicators and participates in performance reviews
Closely working with the SVP, Chief Claims Officer on Vision, planning and execution to create a best in class claims organization
The development and use of metrics and analytics to identify trends
Direct management of the department’s internal quality audit process to ensure compliance with the best claim practices, processes and procedures
Completes quarterly audits to understand the health of the business and designs action plans to influence areas of opportunity. Includes maintaining a 90% meets rating within claim audits
Lead Round Table Discussions in accordance with department best practices
Partners for mutual success with internal and external stakeholders to meet and sustain a 90% in Customer Satisfaction Feedback
Sets strategic direction for managing property claims
Develop and lead large CAT (Catastrophe) event services, ensuring timely response and effective resource allocation
May conduct in-person visits to large or total loss claims to align vendors, assess progress, and meet directly with customers to reinforce service excellence
Collaboration with multiple departments to ensure sound reserving practices are in place and maintained
Partners with Actuary in claims reviews and develops communication cadence of loss trends
Knowledgeable in our targeted industries to identify risks, trends and support needs
Reports to reinsurers and facilitate the prompt collection of reinsurance on those matters where they are accountable
Ensuring compliance requirements are met through Large Loss Reporting to the WRB organization
Manage vendor relationships by selecting best-in-class vendors for optimal outcomes, monitoring performance, and conducting regular audits to ensure compliance and quality standards
Attends Industry conferences and disseminates industry trends to the claim organization
Maintains appropriate State Licenses which includes completion of Continuing Educations requirements
Develop relationships with peers across the WRBC operating units to share and learn industry trends
Drive adoption of emerging technologies (AI, predictive analytics, digital claims platforms) to improve efficiency and accuracy in property claims handling
Champion process automation and workflow optimization to reduce cycle times and enhance customer experience
Explore and implement advanced data analytics for trend identification, fraud detection, and loss prevention strategies
Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging creative problem-solving and piloting innovative solutions
Collaborate with IT and vendor partners to integrate cutting-edge tools for virtual inspections, remote estimating, and catastrophe response

Required

Bachelor's degree required
Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial property claims, including large loss and CAT management
Strong knowledge of property coverage forms, valuation methods, and building codes
Experience managing vendor networks (restoration, engineering, forensic accounting)
Proven leadership in developing high-performing property claims teams
Familiarity with analytics tools for trend identification and reserving accuracy
Excellent negotiation and communication skills for complex property disputes

Preferred

advanced degree (JD or MBA)
Industry certifications such as CPCU, AIC, or CPFI
