Licensed (Refrigeration) Mechanic - Engineer - Nights - Weekends
NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is seeking a Licensed Mechanic/Engineer for their Facilities operation. The role involves ensuring the efficient operation of equipment and utilities, performing inspections, and maintaining various mechanical systems in compliance with safety codes.

Responsibilities
Ensures efficient and twenty-four-hour operation of equipment and utilities for the hospital’s Facilities operation
Inspects buildings, grounds, and systems to ensure the maintenance of service utilities
Understands the interactions required between the Boilers, HVAC equipment, and their effect on operating systems and comfort
Maintains and monitors all hot water, steam, utilities, fire, and fire safety systems by local, state, and federal codes
Responsible for evaluating situations, correcting problems, initiating, and making referrals via phone, email, and text to appropriate specialists, contractors, and departments as necessary
Evaluates and assesses works from prints or drawings
Inspects, monitors, and tests mechanical systems associated with lighting, heating, air-conditioning, plumbing, ventilation, medical air, fire & life safety, pneumatic tube system, drainage, and water supplies to ensure maintenance
Makes emergency repairs to pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems to prevent or stop interruptions of utility services
Maintains, records, and reports all daily activities by logging all work completed, including any unusual conditions arising during the shift
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of four (4) years of general maintenance experience in plumbing, Electrical systems and Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (H.V.A.C.)
Experience with shop tools, pipe threading, electric drills, rotary hammers, steam pressure reducing valve stations, etc
New York State Refrigeration Machine Operators License Q-01
New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness for Operation and Maintenance of Air Compressor G-35 - Must be obtained during probation within 90 days of hire
New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness for Fuel-Oil Piping and Storage System P-98 - Must be obtained during probation within 90 days of hire
New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness for Torch Use of Flammable Gases G-60 - Must be obtained during probation within 90 days of hire
New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness for Fireguard F-60 - Must be obtained during probation within 90 days of hire
New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems S-95 - Must be obtained during probation within 90 days of hire
New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems S-12 - Must be obtained during probation within 90 days of hire
New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems S-13 - Must be obtained during probation within 90 days of hire
New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness for Supervision of Piped Non-Flammable Medical Gases G-71 - Must be obtained during probation within 90 days of hire
