Electrician

Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation is a not-for-profit corporation serving as the real estate developer and property manager of the Yard on behalf of the City of New York. They are seeking an Electrician to install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures throughout their facilities.

Responsibilities

Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring systems and components, equipment and apparatuses such as switchgear, transformers, conduit, circuit breakers & panels, outlets, lighting systems, and motors in accordance with NYC electrical code
Splice wires up to 500 MCM at 600V
Conduct testing and troubleshooting of new and existing installations up to 600V to determine faults or hazards
Perform standard computations relating to electrical load requirements of wiring
Work with industry-specific hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment
Interpret blueprints and technical diagrams
Label system components
Collaborate cross-functionally with team members while also demonstrating accountability in completing tasks independently
Maintain good housekeeping of work sites, electrical rooms, tools, and equipment
Performs other duties as assigned

Building electrical codesUnderstanding of NECNFPA 70EOSHA 10 / OSHA 30SST certificationVocationalTrade school training5+ years related work experienceValid driver’s license

Required

5+ years related work experience required
Valid driver's license required
Knowledge of building electrical codes required
Strong understanding of NEC and NFPA 70E guidelines

Preferred

Vocational or trade school training preferred
OSHA 10 / OSHA 30 preferred
SST certification preferred
