Environmental Planning Intern
Kimley-Horn is looking for Planning students to join their Temecula, California office during Summer 2026. The role involves preparing technical analyses in environmental fields while collaborating across teams to meet clients' needs and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

Responsibilities
Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across teams to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment
Prepare quantitative analysis with accuracy and precision to meet applicable scientific and legal standards
Develop fluency with the federal, state, and local regulations related to air quality, greenhouse gas, and noise, as well as Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards
Communicate the methods and results of analyses to both technical and non-technical audiences
Conduct site visits, including field noise measurements
Qualification
Required
In the process of receiving a Planning Degree (Bachelors or Masters) from an accredited program in of the following majors: City and Regional Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Public Health, Chemistry, Physics, Atmospheric Science/Meteorology, Or Other Related Major
Exposure to environmental laws and regulations including California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA), and/or the Clean Air Act
Passion for applying sound scientific research and judgment to guide clients through the environmental clearance and permitting process
Ability to prepare technical analyses in the fields of Air Quality, Energy, Noise, or Greenhouse Gas/Climate Change
Utilization of state-of-the-art models, current scientific datasets, recognized guidelines and policies, and other relevant tools to solve environmental needs
Ability to solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across teams
Ability to prepare quantitative analysis with accuracy and precision to meet applicable scientific and legal standards
