Senior Employment Law Attorney (Practice Builder)
Chapman Law Group is a growing multi-state health care law firm, and they are seeking an experienced Employment Law Attorney to lead and build a new practice area. The role involves managing client relationships, providing legal counsel, and overseeing employment litigation while contributing to the firm's strategic growth in employment law services.

Responsibilities
Lead the development and execution of the employment law practice’s business plan
Drive client development through marketing, networking, and cross-selling to existing firm clients
Build long-term client relationships and expand the firm’s employment law footprint
Advise and represent employers on a wide range of federal and Michigan employment law issues, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour compliance (FLSA and Michigan law), FMLA/ADA leave issues, and workplace safety
Manage all aspects of employment litigation and administrative proceedings, including risk assessment, strategy development, discovery, motion practice, hearings, and trials
Represent clients before agencies such as the EEOC and DOL, as well as in state and federal courts
Draft and review employment agreements, severance agreements, policies, and employee handbooks
Counsel clients on best practices for hiring, discipline, performance management, and terminations to minimize risk
Mentor and potentially supervise junior attorneys and staff as the practice grows
Collaborate with partners and other practice groups to deliver integrated legal solutions
Qualification
Required
J.D. from an accredited law school
Active Michigan Bar license (or eligibility for admission)
Minimum of 10+ years of employment law experience in private practice
Established, portable book of business required (details discussed during the interview process)
Deep knowledge of federal and Michigan employment laws (Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, NLRA, etc.)
Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong business judgment
Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative firm culture
Preferred
Strong litigation and trial experience in employment matters
