Transporation Dispatcher (Part-Time)
The City of Azusa is seeking a Part-Time Transportation Dispatcher to join their Community Resources Department. The role involves assigning bus drivers to routes, coordinating bus repairs, and maintaining communication with drivers, while also providing customer service and managing records.

Responsibilities
Assigns bus drivers to vehicles and routes following established procedures and in accordance with established route schedules; assists with scheduling of Gold Line Shuttle and demand response passengers
Adjusts assignments for absent drivers; designs routes and schedules; dispatches bus drivers and maintains radio contact with buses
Responds to customer inquiries; provides information regarding system schedules, fares, para-transit service, and related details; receives and sorts mail; enters data and prepares correspondence; schedules shuttles and transportation services
Initiates and maintains a variety of records; prepares logs, bus driver time records, daily hours and miles records, and injury reports as required
Operates City’s emergency operation center; assists in the coordination of transportation for emergency personnel, resources, equipment and supplies as needed
Reports to bus accident scenes; assists bus driver in the preparation of accident reports
Provides instruction and guidance to relief dispatchers and bus drivers regarding established policy or procedure; assists in training bus drivers; performs driver road checks as assigned
Collects, counts, and deposits fares and donations
Performs related duties as required
Qualification
Required
A CURRENT TYPING CERTIFICATE (WITHIN THE LAST 12 MONTHS) VERIFYING A NET TYPING SPEED OF 35 NET WPM IN A 5-MINUTE TEST MUST BE ATTACHED AT TIME OF APPLICATION
Education: HS/GED
Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in terminal operations, and increasing responsibility in communications, dispatch, or logistical coordination work
Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Class C California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
Preferred
Possession of a valid Class B California driver's license with Passenger and Air Brakes endorsements and no restrictions on the weight of vehicle permitted to drive or the number of passengers permitted to carry is highly desirable
Valid First Aid and CPR certifications are highly desirable
Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
Benefits
Part-time employees accrue sick leave beginning with the first full pay period of employment on the basis of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked. The maximum accrual per year is 48 hours.
Part-time employees are enrolled in the Accumulation Program for Part-Time and Limited-Service Employees (APPLE). Part-time employees pay 3.75% of wages into this retirement program and the City matches the employee's (3.75% of wages) share.
