The State of Florida is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic for the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The role requires a skilled technician to perform maintenance and repairs on aircraft and helicopters, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and safety standards.

Responsibilities
Performs maintenance, preventive maintenance, rebuilding and alterations on assigned reciprocating engine aircraft and turbine engine helicopters as prescribed by applicable Federal Aviation Regulations; performs scheduled inspections on assigned aircraft; research files for applicable airworthiness directives and complies with them using computers, microfiche and paper manuals
Completes necessary inspection forms and entries into logbooks and computer records; requests parts to be ordered in a timely manner
Maintains workspace in a safe, neat and orderly manner
Coordinates with the supervisor and pilots in analyzing reported malfunctions of aircraft and assists or performs the necessary repairs or adjustments to these discrepancies
Deploys to field locations as necessary to provide mechanical, fuel and helibase support to deployed aircraft
Performs routine and emergency maintenance and repairs to maintenance facilities and ground support equipment
Assists with building and ground maintenance, administrative tasks, property inventory, etc., as needed
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Certification as an Aircraft Mechanic by the Federal Aviation Administration with Airframe and Powerplant Ratings
Possession of a valid driver license
Occasional to moderate travel required
Position may respond to emergencies, including natural disasters or other type incidents requiring travel, as needed

A skilled aircraft mechanic who holds a current Airframe and Powerplant License
Certification by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) authorizes maintenance and repair on modern sophisticated aircraft and turbine powered helicopters
Performs maintenance, preventive maintenance, rebuilding and alterations on assigned reciprocating engine aircraft and turbine engine helicopters as prescribed by applicable Federal Aviation Regulations
Performs scheduled inspections on assigned aircraft
